Wood box building workshop
JThe Canmore Co-op is hosting a wood box building work party on May 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Co-op workshop, behind Service Canada on Bow Valley Trail. No experience needed. Drills are an asset. Boxes will be used for storage at the co- op for details, phone 688-5432.

Mountain Bike Movie Release Party
Bicycle Cafe presents the new collective movie Seasons. The film follows seven riders for four seasons and documents the year in the life of a rider. Doors open at 8 p.m. at Communitea Cafe. Tickets are $8.

Jazz concert
Jazz with coffee and desserts at Ralph Conner United Church. All proceeds go to support grassroots projects in Canada and throughout the world.

Bike Rodeo
Canmore RCMP are hosting a bike rodeo on May 10 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Canmore Rec. Centre. The rodeo is for kids in grades 1 to 4. Bike checks will be held and an obstacle course will be set up. For more information, call 678-5519.

Soroptimist’s Conference
Are you interested in setting up a booth where 200 females will attend? Or do you have a talent or adventure you would like to share with the girls and/or moms?

World Fair Trade Day
Canmore’s first celebration of World Fair Trade day. Listen to speakers and music at Communitea Cafe, beginning at 8 p.m. Discover fair trade products available in Canmore. Event is also a launch party for Encounter Earth. Music provided by DJ Paulo.

Bow Valley Community day
An updated old fashioned Church picnic. Hosted by the Canmore/Banff ministerial, the event includes music and games for all ages. Event runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance is free.

Mother’s Day Tea
Mother’s Day tea and breast Cancer Fundraiser invite your mother to enjoy a free pot of special flowering tea. Take home a tied teaball and 50 per cent of the profits will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 103 Banff Ave.

Children’s Festival
The Children's Festival is looking for volunteers for the festival this year on May 16 and 17. We are also looking for volunteers to fill co-ordinator positions of Front Gate, Food and Beverage and Media. If you can help out call Susan Padula at 678-1928.
Helping Families with Severely Ill Children
Blessed Are the Children Foundation is a registered, charitable organization formed in 2006 to assist Bow Valley families experiencing hardship due to a severe and/or life-threatening illness or injury of a child.

Library Events
The Canmore Public Library welcomes parents with infants, toddlers and preschoolers to a variety of programs, including BOOKS FOR BABIES (Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.), WIGGLETIME for walking babies up to the age of two (Fridays 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.), TALES FOR TWOS for two-year-olds (Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.) and PRESCHOOL STORYTIME for children aged three to five years (Wednesdays 2p.m. to 2:30 p.m.). All of these programs are drop-in.

Toastmasters Club
Mountain Mumblers Toastmaster Club has resumed meetings. Meetings are on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Canmore Recreation Centre in the Conference Room. Drop-ins are welcome! Please contact Natalie at 609-7835 for more information.

Drug Problem Help

Fitness Training Wednesdays
Every Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. in the Banff Community High School gym there will be a fitness training session followed by rugby skills or a game of touch rugby. Join the Banff Rugby Football Club’s men’s or women’s team and get ready for the summer season. No experience necessary. There is a $5 drop in fee.
